a groovy '70s soundtrack, polyester outfits and hairy bushes in full bloom, The
Virgin and the Lover seems to capture perfectly the spirit of the free love
generation. The story revolves around a man who lost his only love in a car
accident and can't seem to get his mojo working again. It's not that he can't
get a date. He goes out with his psychiatrist's receptionist, but instead of
taking her and having his way with her, he can't stop thinking about the
mannequin he keeps in his apartment - the mannequin he uses to fantasize about
his lost love. Meanwhile, plenty of good sex happens around them, featuring a
host of good-looking golden age gals.
